The Istanbul-bound plane took off from Ercan Airport around 10:00, but was grounded 10 minutes later as part of a police operation.

One person from the plane that landed at Ercan was arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in an armed attack in Nicosia.

According to information obtained by Kıbrıs Postası, the grounding of the plane caused a disruption in flights, leading to the cancellation of two flights.

POLICE STATEMENT

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, at around 07:15 today, two gunshots were fired at a parked car in the car park of an apartment building on Akın Başak Street in Nicosia, resulting in material damage to the vehicle.

As a result of the advanced investigation conducted upon receiving information about the incident, the suspect identified as A.Y. (E-52), involved in the case, was arrested at Ercan Airport while attempting to depart overseas.

No injuries or fatalities occurred in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
