DP Nicosia Member of Parliament Hasan Tosunoğlu made statements on his social media account, responding to the allegations made by the party's former vice president Redif Nurel, stating, "All statements made about me are completely false; nonsense." Hasan Tosunoğlu, a Member of Parliament for the Democrat Party in Nicosia, made statements on his social media account regarding the allegations raised by the party's former vice president Redif Nurel.

In his statement, Tosunoğlu said, "Today, I went to the General Directorate of Police and filed a complaint against the person who made completely false statements about me." He also mentioned that he had consulted with his lawyer to file a lawsuit regarding the accusations.

The full statement by Tosunoğlu is as follows:

"Today, I went to the General Directorate of Police and filed a complaint against the person who made completely false statements about me. I also met with my lawyer to request the filing of a lawsuit regarding the allegations. During my tenure as the Chairman of the Board of Development Bank, I took maximum care to ensure the correct use of the bank's and public resources. The credit request of the individual in question was rejected within this framework because his application did not meet the legal or financial criteria. The decision to reject, like all other decisions during my chairmanship, was taken unanimously. If I had shown partisanship that day and ensured that this person, who became a member of my party, was granted a loan, I would have betrayed my duty at that time. Now, the statements he made about me are the result of the frustration caused by not allowing him to benefit from the state's funds. All statements made about me are completely false; nonsense. Of course, it will not go unpunished: we will settle accounts within the framework of the law. Asking for or offering a bribe is a horrendous act of dishonesty. Fighting against those who try to tarnish my name by saying 'he asked for a bribe' is a matter of dignity and honor for me. We did not have the opportunity to confront each other regarding his allegations today because he did not answer my calls, but we will definitely confront each other in court. In the meantime, I must express my amazement at the hasty attitude of some politicians who hope to gain advantage from such an ugly attack. I don't know if I need to remind that politics cannot be produced from slander and that it is the duty of common sense not to be an instrument to slanderers."
