Izcan expressed concerns that Geçitkale Airport would be transformed into a military base for warplanes, posing a danger to civilian lives.

In a written statement, Izzet Izcan emphasized that Cyprus is the common homeland of the Cypriot people, and achieving a shared homeland is possible through joint efforts rather than arming. He criticized the approval of the protocol between the government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the government of Turkey, which grants Geçitkale Airport to the Turkish Armed Forces, as it poses risks and is deemed unacceptable.

Izcan argued that the region would soon turn into a military target where fighter jets are stationed, endangering the lives of civilians. He urged for a collective struggle instead of arming to reach a shared homeland.
