Despite being prohibited, Altan Paşa, Serhan Kumru, and Murat Yayman were arrested for selling lottery tickets and scratch cards from South Cyprus and brought before the Nicosia District Court.

Police officer Erkan Yılmaz, stationed at the Demirhan Police Station, presented the facts in court. The police stated that the suspects Altan Paşa, Serhan Kumru, and Murat Yayman were arrested and brought to court for "acting contrary to the Lottery Law."

According to the police, on February 14, 2024, around 14:20, Altan Paşa was detected selling lottery tickets and scratch cards from South Cyprus without permission from the Lottery Department, in front of the entrance of a market in Demirhan. The police disclosed that during the search conducted on the suspect, 50 lottery tickets and 102 scratch cards from South Cyprus were seized. The police also revealed that they found out that the suspect brought the tickets for Serhan Kumru and Murat Yayman to sell. Additionally, it was mentioned that Murat Yayman was caught selling Greek lottery tickets in Nicosia. The police informed that an arrest warrant was issued for Serhan Kumru, who was also caught in Nicosia. According to the police, the suspects claimed during their interrogation that they were unaware that selling lottery tickets and scratch cards from South Cyprus was illegal.

The police further stated that the suspects declared that they would accept any charges brought against them during the trial. Pointing out that all three suspects are citizens of the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) and have strong social and economic ties in the TRNC, the police requested that they be subject to bail conditions determined by the court to ensure their presence at their trial.

Having evaluated the testimony presented before her, Judge Zehra Yalkut Bilgeç ordered the suspects to each deposit a bail of 7,000 TL in cash and to have a guarantor sign a surety bond worth 300,000 TL for their release pending trial.
