Mehmet Kılıç, with 59 Prior Convictions, Wounds Two Individuals with a Machete!

It was determined that Mehmet Kılıç, who wounded Murat Gören in the head and İbrahim Casun in the teeth and lips with a machete he possessed on February 7th in Nicosia, has 59 prior convictions. The suspect has been sentenced to prison for a period not exceeding 3 months.

Mehmet Kılıç, aged 47, who was arrested on charges of "attempted murder," "serious injury," "assault," "intentional damage," "carrying a dangerous weapon," and "severe beating" in Nicosia, appeared before the Nicosia District Court again.

HITTING MURAT GÖREN IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD

Police officer Emrah Turgal, stationed at the Nicosia Criminal Branch, presented the facts in court. Police officer Turgal stated that the suspect, around 13:30 on February 7, 2024, on Istanbul Avenue, a public place in the city center of Nicosia, unlawfully possessed a machete and struck 31-year-old Murat Gören in the back of the head, causing a 7-centimeter incision, thus attempting to murder him and causing him injury.

HE THREW THE MACHETE AT CASUN'S FACE, CAUSING INJURY TO HIS TEETH AND LIPS

The police officer explained that the suspect threw the machete at 24-year-old İbrahim Casun's face, causing his tooth to break and creating a 4-centimeter incision on his lower right lip, thus committing the offense of severe injury.

The police officer noted that following these incidents, the suspect intentionally damaged Murat Gören's mobile phone by throwing it on the ground, causing it to break.

THE SUSPECT HAS 59 PRIOR CONVICTIONS!

The police officer stated that the suspect underwent a medical examination at the Peace of Mind and Nerve Diseases Hospital to determine whether he had criminal responsibility for the crimes he committed. The police mentioned that they received verbal confirmation from doctors that the suspect was criminally liable, but they had not yet received the report. The police officer stated that the investigation was completed, revealing that the suspect had 59 prior convictions, and requested his detention pending trial.

THE SUSPECT SPOKE IN COURT: THE ATTACKED INDIVIDUALS CONSPIRED AGAINST ME

Following the police report, the suspect claimed in court that the individuals he attacked conspired against him.

After evaluating the evidence, Judge Zehra Yalkut Bilgeç sentenced the suspect to prison for a period not exceeding 3 months to be tried for the crimes of "attempted murder," "serious injury," "assault," "intentional damage," "carrying a dangerous weapon," and "severe beating."
