Fatal Accident on Kyrenia-Akatu Main Road
A tragic traffic accident occurred last night on the Kyrenia-Akatu main road, involving a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle. Sadly, the motorcycle rider, 30-year-old Cemre Yönet, who sustained critical injuries, lost his life in the accident. According to information provided by the Police Press Office, the accident occurred at 23:10 between kilometers 32-33 of the Kyrenia-Akatu main road. The VH 298-plated motorcycle, driven by Cemre Yönet, was traveling towards Akatu when it collided with the right side of the LZ 864-plated sedan, driven by 19-year-old Mikail Akbaş, who entered the main road from the Palm Bay View site without stopping, recklessly, and under the influence of 285 milliliters of alcohol, disregarding the direction of travel.
Unfortunately, Cemre Yönet, the motorcycle rider who sustained severe injuries in the accident, lost his life at the scene, while Mikail Akbaş, the driver of the LZ 864-plated vehicle, sustained minor injuries. He was discharged from Girne Dr. Akçiçek Hospital after receiving treatment and was subsequently arrested by the police.
