Russian Citizens in Northern Cyprus Cast Votes for Russian Elections!

Russian citizens living in the TRNC are also voting in the elections to be held in Russia on March 15-17. In this election, where citizens of another country are voting outside of Turkey for the first time in the TRNC, the voting process, which started yesterday, will end tomorrow. According to information received, there are around 50,000 Russian citizens residing in the TRNC.

For the presidential elections to be held in Russia on March 15-16-17, the voting process for Russian citizens living abroad started yesterday. Russian citizens living in the TRNC can vote at the ballot box set up in the building where consulate procedures are carried out in Nicosia, to be able to vote in the elections.

According to the information obtained from consulate authorities by Kıbrıs Postası, approximately 50,000 Russian citizens reside in the TRNC.

The voting process, which started yesterday, will last for a total of three days and will end tomorrow. It is expected that the participation rate in the elections will be around 15 percent. Meanwhile, citizens of another country can vote in the TRNC territory for the first time, apart from Turkey.

A total of 4 candidates are participating in the Russian elections. Alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin, Leonid Slutskiy, President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) in the lower house of the Russian Parliament, Duma, Nikolay Haritonov, nominated by the Communist Party (KPRF), and Vladislav Davankov, Deputy Chairman of the New People's Party (Novıye Lyudi), will compete.

The previous presidential election in Russia was held on March 18, 2018, where Putin was elected president with 76.69 percent of the votes.
