UN Envoy Holguin Advocates Viewing Cyprus Issue as 'Cyprus Matter'
United Nations Secretary-General's Personal Representative Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar, in a statement made after the meeting without leaving the Presidency, noted that her meeting with Tatar went "very well" and expressed hope for a constructive week during her stay on the island.
Holguin stated, "I hope that the Cyprus issue will be seen as a 'Cyprus matter' rather than a Cyprus problem."
She also mentioned her plans to meet with some political parties, civil society organizations, and chambers of commerce from both sides of the island.
Holguin is expected to meet with Nicosia Turkish Cypriot Mayor Mehmet Harmancı today, and her meeting with the Nicosia Greek Cypriot Mayor is also anticipated.
