Aslı Murat: Fake Diplomas Didn't Surface through Inspections
A- A A+

Aslı Murat made assessments regarding the persisting irregularities in the agenda.

Stating, "We see many irregular, non-compliant, and unlawful practices in the North of Cyprus," Murat addressed the 'irregular diplomas' brought to light by the owner of KSTU due to their complaint.

"DIPLOMAS DIDN'T SURFACE THROUGH INSPECTIONS"

"I believe that even without this complaint, irregular diplomas would have surfaced," said Murat, emphasizing that this diploma issue did not come to light through inspections.

Highlighting the importance of concluding investigations, Murat noted that the incident should not be blamed and left on specific individuals.

"THE INVESTIGATION OF IRREGULAR DIPLOMAS SHOULD CONTINUE EVEN WHEN THE SOCIETAL TENSION SUBSIDES"

Referring to the recent incident of the 'prescription issue,' Murat mentioned that investigations are ongoing but are not currently on the agenda. She emphasized the need for the investigation into diplomas to continue even when the societal tension decreases.

Murat stated, "There are individuals brought to the country with student visas involved in human trafficking and trade," expressing concern over the police force not sharing their transparency with the press, especially regarding the last person's arrest.

"THERE IS A SERIOUS DETERIORATION IN THE HARMONY WITHIN THE POLICE FORCE"

Murat highlighted that this could create trust issues with the police and added, "If there are such problems within the police, they should openly declare it. There are many cases within the police regarding appointments, transfers, and promotions. There are also issues of merit and fair distribution within the police. The police force is one of our trusted institutions, but now there are even leaks to the press from within. There is also a serious deterioration in the harmony within the police force."

"PARLIAMENT CANNOT REMOVE IMMUNITIES, IT MUST COME FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE"

Addressing misconceptions regarding those with immunities, Murat stated that Parliament cannot currently remove these immunities; a request must come from the Prosecutor's Office.

Murat mentioned that an investigation could commence regarding MP Emrah Yeşilırmak, who is accused of irregular diplomas, but noted that Yeşilırmak is not obligated to testify.

"THERE IS CHAOS AND SOCIAL DECAY IN ALL FIELDS IN THE COUNTRY"

Murat concluded, "There is chaos and social decay in all fields in the country. The government is not conducting inspections, and while the police are responsible for preventing crime, there are problems within the police. In such a situation, trust decreases, and the legal order is seriously jeopardized."
