Fileleftheros and other newspapers reported that Archbishop Yeorgios made statements on the Cyprus issue, and President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, responded to Yeorgios.

According to the report, Yeorgios mentioned that "Cyprus is the last stronghold of Hellenism" and emphasized the need for the activation of the Joint Defense Doctrine between Cyprus and Greece.

Speaking about the Cyprus government, Yeorgios stated, "The government of Cyprus must take all necessary steps to ensure the success of our struggle." He also emphasized that Greece should not succumb to the demands for "good neighborly relations and the separation of the Cyprus issue from other Greek issues."

Yeorgios added, "Without necessary reinforcements in defense, strengthening of the Republic of Cyprus Armed Forces, addressing the daily influx of migrants, and evaluating major changes in our surroundings correctly, we should not be pressured into new and unbearable concessions under Turkish conditions."
