Fire Department Reports 6 Fires and 26 Special Service Incidents Last Week
The Fire Department announced that a total of 6 fires and 26 special service incidents occurred in the country last week.
According to the statement from the department, the total damage amount from the fires was recorded at 66,000 TL.
The statement noted that there were 2 fires in Nicosia, 2 in Famagusta, and one each in Kyrenia and Gemikonağı. The probable causes of the fires were listed as electrical short circuits, gas leaks, discarded cigarette butts not properly extinguished, ignition and explosion of a lighter inside a vehicle, and intentional ignition by individuals.
In Güzelyurt, there were 10 incidents, 9 in Nicosia, 3 in Famagusta, 2 in İskele, and one each in Kyrenia and Yeşilköy. The incidents involved water drainage, fire training, rescue of cats trapped in the engine compartment and well, fire prevention measures, rescue of individuals trapped inside vehicles in a traffic accident, and facilitating the transfer of deceased individuals to the hospital for forensic investigation, as stated in the announcement.
