In a written statement from the ministry, it was reported that Rhopilema Nomadica (Nomadic Jellyfish), which has been seen in the seas in recent days, is being observed more frequently in the last 10 years.

The statement noted that Rhopilema Nomadica does not have extensions on the body edges, and the stinging capsules are located on the oral arms and around the umbrella. It was also mentioned that Rhopilema Nomadica comes from the Suez Canal.

It was emphasized that Rhopilema Nomadica can reproduce both sexually and asexually, thus having a very high reproductive potential, and therefore, it can be observed more frequently, especially in the spring and summer months.

The most effective intervention to relieve pain upon contact was stated to be soaking the affected area in water at 43-45 °C for 20-40 minutes, according to the statement. If there is no instrument to measure the temperature of the water, it was advised to use water at the highest tolerable temperature. The statement also highlighted that if pain, swelling, itching, or burning persists, medical attention should be sought.
