Speaking to Kıbrıs Postası, a source close to the TRNC Presidency expressed the following about the developments:

"Mr. Hristoduludis, the Greek Cypriot leader, is an uncompromising, EOKA supporter political figure. As evidenced by his speech yesterday on the anniversary of the terrorist organization's founding, he has already demonstrated this trait. As stated by his own colleagues in writing, he has occasionally played a significant role, sometimes behind the scenes and sometimes openly, in the collapse of the Crans-Montana negotiations, where the federation model was exhausted in 2017. The Greek Cypriot leader, while sweating on every platform to prevent the recognition of the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot side, also makes empty statements to appear pleasant to the international community. He does not want the status of the TRNC to be equalized with the Greek Cypriot state. The vision of the Greek Cypriot leader is to relegate the Turkish Cypriot people to a minority status in the Greek Cypriot state through a constitutional amendment.

The chapter on the federation is closed and will not be reopened. The federation model has collapsed, it is exhausted, and the federation model is null and void for the Turkish Cypriot side and Turkey.

In light of these facts, the Greek Cypriot leader, whose politics are clearly unsustainable, has attempted to put words into the mouth of the UN Secretary-General this time.

The Greek Cypriot leader claims that the UN Secretary-General presented a proposal in Brussels and that he accepted it, saying, 'I hope Tatar also accepts the proposal that Guterres will present on April 5th.' It's very clear that the UN has neither the authority nor the initiative for such a move.

Mr. Tatar is going to New York to emphasize once again, in the name of the Turkish Cypriot side, supported by Turkey, the need to recognize our sovereign equality and equal international status for the initiation of a new and official negotiation process within the framework of the proposal we put forward in Geneva.

"This is neither a negotiation nor an attempt to find common ground or build bridges. It is clearly an exercise to determine whether there is common ground or not. The only duty of the Personal Representative appointed for a period of less than six months on January 5th is to do this. The authority of the Personal Representative is clearly defined, and Mr. President, together with Turkey, has approved the appointment of the Personal Representative within these limits. Mr. Guterres is a very experienced politician and is currently at the center of international diplomacy in his second term. The Greek Cypriot leader, in an attempt that is also disrespectful to Mr. Guterres and to silence him, should never be given any credit; the necessary warning should be given to him..."

WHAT DID HRISTODULIDIS SAY?

According to reports in the Greek Cypriot media, Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Hristodulidis stated that they were in contact with Holguin and that the most important thing in the coming days is the meeting between the UN Secretary-General and President Tatar, and that Tatar needs to respond to this issue during the meeting and also expressed hope that the UN Secretary-General would respond positively to the proposal.

In this context, Hristodulidis characterized President Ersin Tatar's meeting with UN Secretary-General Guterres on April 5th as important, and expressed hope that the Turkish side would also respond to these proposals.

When asked if he was in contact with Holguin, Hristodulidis expressed that they were in contact with Holguin, and repeated that the most important thing in the coming days is the meeting between the UN Secretary-General and President Tatar, and that Tatar needs to respond to this issue during the meeting and also expressed hope that the UN Secretary-General would respond positively to the proposal.
