President Tatar mentioned that Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar assumed her duties in January and has completed the first three months of her six-month tenure, which aims to explore whether there is any common ground between the parties.

Stating that Holguin has held two rounds of talks and will conduct her third visit in May, President Tatar expressed that no common ground has been found so far.

President Tatar emphasized the need for the international community and the United Nations to reaffirm the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish side, asserting that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is a "sovereign" state.

President Tatar underscored that the TRNC is in search of a practical solution and is working towards a fair and permanent agreement.

Continuing his statement, President Tatar said, "There must be a fair, permanent, sustainable, and practical agreement because there are currently two states in Cyprus. There are two peoples, two democracies, and two authorities, and this situation has been ongoing for 60 years. Therefore, turning back the clock is not possible."

President Tatar noted that embargoes restricting the economic growth of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are in place.

Describing this situation as unfair to the Turkish Cypriots, President Tatar stated, "The Greek Cypriots usurped the partnership state we established together, and today, the 'Republic of Cyprus' has essentially become a pure Greek republic."

President Tatar emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people were co-founders of the joint Republic of Cyprus in 1960, but unfortunately, the Greek Cypriots forget this fact and seek to treat the Turkish Cypriots as a minority and impose an unacceptable solution on them. He stressed that this will never be accepted.

President Tatar recalled that the Turkish Cypriots were forcibly expelled from the partnership state in 1963 and demanded respect for their sovereignty rights.

"Sixty years later, we demand the reaffirmation of our sovereignty. Our sovereignty is in the Constitution. Therefore, this is our right," President Tatar concluded.
