Azerbaijan's President Aliyev Reaffirms Support for Turkish Cypriots

According to the statement from the Presidency, Aliyev expressed to President Tatar during the conversation that "Azerbaijan will always stand by its 'Turkish Cypriot brothers'".

President Tatar, who is in the United States for meetings, had a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

President Tatar thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group, in line with the directive he issued.

President Tatar also mentioned that upon President Aliyev's invitation, he will visit Shusha in July.

During his discussion with Azerbaijani President Aliyev regarding his contacts in the United States and his meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President Tatar stated that they desire a cooperation-based agreement between the two states in Cyprus and there will be no turning back.

President Aliyev, in his remarks, emphasized that the best course of action is for the Turkish Cypriots to continue their path with their own state, highlighting that Azerbaijan will always stand by its 'Turkish Cypriot brothers'.

President Aliyev noted that the Azerbaijan-Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group will soon visit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The two Presidents also extended their greetings for the Ramadan holiday to the Azerbaijani and Turkish Cypriot peoples.
