"UBP Secretary: Establishment of Azerbaijan - TRNC Friendship Group a Historic Decision

Hasipoğlu emphasized that with the approval of the decision to establish a parliamentary friendship group between Azerbaijan and the TRNC in the Azerbaijani National Assembly, a significant step towards the official recognition of the TRNC has been taken. In his statement, he said:

"The decision to establish the Azerbaijan - TRNC Parliamentary Friendship Group, which has been brought to the level of parliament, with an official decision taken by the Assembly under the official name of our country and our parliament, is a historic decision. It is the first time, other than the Republic of Turkey, that another country's parliament has taken an official decision to start cooperation with us.

I would like to express my gratitude to the esteemed President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Azerbaijan, Mr. İlham Aliyev, the Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly, Ms. Sabiha Gafarova, and to the Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party, Mr. Tahir Budagov, and Member of Parliament, Mr. Ramil Hasan, who have always kept their relations with the TRNC warm and ensured the signing of the agreement with our party, as well as to everyone involved.

Seeing the realization of our 'One Nation, Three States' motto, and beginning to reap the fruits of our efforts to become more visible internationally, shows that we are getting closer to our goal with each passing day."
