Zeki Çeler: We Are Now at a Point of Embracing the Entire Society

Emphasizing that the majority of Turkish Cypriots have a social democratic view, Çeler underscored that TDP's perspective is also social democratic, and in the new era, TDP is even more inclusive of the Turkish Cypriot community.

During his visit to Gazimağusa, Çeler noted that he received expressions of gratitude such as "You pursued clean, honest, transparent politics." and "We thank you for your sincerity." from the citizens, emphasizing that the positive feedback received from the citizens indicates that they are on the right track.

"SOCIETY IS TIRED OF THE SAME FACES, SIMILAR RHETORIC, AND REGRESSION"

Çeler explained that society is tired of the same faces, similar rhetoric, and the continuous regression, pointing out that due to sociological and economic downturns, people of all ages are eager to migrate from the country.

"As TDP, we are aware of the turmoil experienced by the citizens. Being aware means we will work to rectify it. We have the team and the determination to make this correction," he said.

"ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES DISAPPOINT VOTERS"

Çeler stated that he does not harbor any resentment towards those who have previously voted for different political parties, saying, "Unfortunately, the elected representatives disappoint the voters. They fail to deliver on the promises of action they claim they will take. Citizens say, 'We will test you in the next election.'"

"WHAT MATTERS TO US..."

Speaking about the Cyprus issue, Çeler stated that they are advocates and followers of an agreement where people can live in security within the parameters set by the UN, adding:

"What matters to us now is the cleansing of decay, strengthening our institutions, keeping pace with technology, economic welfare of the people, quality healthcare and education, safe roads, and a livable environment."

"THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT REFLECT THE REALITIES OF THE COUNTRY TO TURKEY"

Regarding relations with the Republic of Turkey, Çeler mentioned that the current government partners complain about each other to Turkey, failing to reflect the realities of the country to Turkey and preferring to disrupt the social structure for political gain.

Stating that the most important way to prevent problems is through oversight, Çeler recalled his tenure as a minister, saying, "During our tenure, human trafficking, medication purchases for insured individuals, construction projects, the devaluation of the Turkish lira, minimum wage, and whether May 1st should be a holiday for the private sector were being discussed. During my ministry, along with the government partners, I overcame all of these."

"WE ARE SUITORS TO THE GOVERNMENT, NOT THE OPPOSITION"

Çeler stated that TDP continues on its path with a constructive political goal, emphasizing that their party is a suitor to the government, not the opposition. Finally, inviting all social democrats to join TDP, Çeler made a call to manage the country together.
