President's Meeting Reviews Recent Regional Developments

Attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu, Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Commander Major General Sebahattin Kılınç, Security Forces Commander Major General Osman Aytaç, Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı, Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Presidential Secretary Okan Donangil, and President's Special Representative Güneş Onar, the meeting concluded with a joint press statement by President Tatar and Ambassador Feyzioğlu.

Ambassador Feyzioğlu, in his opening remarks, noted that they convened the high-level meeting at President Tatar's invitation to discuss recent developments. He emphasized that according to the Constitution and international law, the security of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Turkish Cypriots is under the responsibility of the Republic of Turkey. He expressed the desire for the Turkish Cypriot people to feel at ease, highlighting Turkey's unconditional alliance as the guarantor country, ensuring peace and stability in the region.

Feyzioğlu commended the exemplary leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in prioritizing peace, humanitarian values, and safeguarding national interests, calling for emulation. He also underscored the collective efforts of Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all relevant institutions in the region to promote peace and tranquility, along with the close cooperation between President Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and the government, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to working within the framework of unconditional alliance.

President Tatar, addressing the recent tensions in the region discussed during the meeting, reiterated that Turkey, as the most powerful country in the region and the guarantor, stands firmly by the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot people with all its capabilities. He assured that the region is under constant surveillance and Turkey is actively working to ensure its peace and security.

Expressing hope for a de-escalation of tensions, President Tatar highlighted Turkey's efforts for peace, security, and stability in the region. He emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people have a voice in the region and aspire to live in peace, security, and stability, acknowledging the potential for unforeseen developments due to the geopolitical context but reassuring the public of their safety.
