Fire Department Responds to 19 Fires and 75 Incidents in 2 Weeks

The fire department intervened in 19 fires and 75 special service incidents over the past 2 weeks. The total damage from the fires was reported to be 1,626,000 TL. The Fire Department announced that a total of 19 fires and 75 special service incidents were intervened in the country over the past 2 weeks.

According to the statement from the department, the total damage from the fires was 1,626,000 TL.

During this period, it was stated that there were 8 fires in Nicosia, 4 in Guzelyurt, 2 in Kyrenia, 2 in Vadili, and 1 each in Famagusta, Iskele, and Caglayan. The possible causes of the fires were listed as follows:

"Short circuit, throwing away a lit cigarette without extinguishing it, burning for cleaning purposes, lightning striking a tree, accumulation of oil in a functioning oven in the kitchen causing ignition, oil in the fryer igniting due to heat, burning of piled dry branches thrown into forested areas, children playing with matches igniting dry grass, burning by individuals."

The special service incidents were reported as follows:

"Rescuing cats trapped between two walls, in the outdoor unit of an air conditioner, and in the engine compartment of a vehicle, rescuing dogs trapped on a tree, on the roof of a house, on an electricity pole, in a stream bed, fallen into a well, and stuck in iron railings, rescuing a parrot trapped on a balcony, a pigeon stuck in a chimney, and a goat trapped on the edge of a cliff, rescuing individuals trapped inside a tent that collapsed, in a vehicle due to accumulated water on the road, and in an elevator, ensuring the transfer of individuals trapped in a traffic accident to the hospital, providing fire training, taking precautions against fires, special missions, natural disasters, and ensuring the transfer of deceased individuals to the hospital for forensic investigation purposes."
