In a written statement, Maviş argued that the Turkish Cypriot community continues to suffer from the wounds caused by division and unresolved issues. He criticized the political deadlock between Nicosia and Ankara, stating that it has rendered politics outside of international law and has become a threat to the community's existence.

Maviş highlighted the obstacles faced by Turkish Cypriots in accessing their rights deriving from the Republic of Cyprus, citing instances where citizenship rights of children born from mixed marriages are denied while passports are readily granted to international smugglers. He also alleged that the Council of Ministers continues to distribute citizenship, including to individuals with no connection to the island, as exemplified by the recent granting of citizenship to a former commander.

The lack of accountability and transparency in population and citizenship policies, according to Maviş, does not serve the interests of the current political establishment. He argued that the current population density makes it impossible to provide essential services such as schools, hospitals, and legal institutions adequately.

Maviş expressed concern over the increasing number of Turkish Cypriots included in the "restricted list," citing the prohibition of entry to Turkey for Turkish Cypriot intellectuals with the "N82" code and the escalating suppression of freedom of expression, leading to arrests. He also expressed solidarity with Evrim Hınçal, who faced mistreatment.

In conclusion, Maviş urged Turkish Cypriots to focus on achieving a solution and establishing direct relations with the EU to alleviate pressures from both sides and to secure their place in international law.
