Traffic Commission Decisions: Written Driver's Exams, Vehicle Seizures for DUI

The Traffic and Transportation Services Commission, which had not convened for three years, met yesterday to discuss traffic-related issues. Among the decisions made during the meeting were written driver's license exams and the seizure of vehicles driven by individuals under the influence of alcohol.

The commission, chaired by Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, held a meeting titled "Traffic Problems and Measures."

According to a statement from the ministry, the meeting took place yesterday in the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation's meeting room.

The statement noted that the commission made four important decisions, with Minister Arıklı set to inform the Council of Ministers about three of them within 15 days. Additionally, a draft law related to one of the decisions will be prepared and submitted to the Parliament for approval within three months.

One of the decisions made by the Traffic and Transportation Services Commission is to provide traffic education in schools following collaboration with the Ministry of Education and to select pilot schools for this purpose.

Furthermore, it was decided to change the format of the student driver's license exam from oral to written, and to translate the Traffic Education Book and exam questions into three languages ​​(English, Russian, Arabic).

According to the Traffic Services Planning, Coordination, and Inspection Law, Minister Arıklı will inform the Council of Ministers about these three decisions within 15 days.

Additionally, the commission decided to seize the vehicles of individuals who drive with a certain blood alcohol level and tow them to district municipal parking lots.

The necessary legal arrangements for this decision will be submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval and then sent to Parliament for consideration within three months.
