In a statement, the Foreign Ministry evaluated the conclusions of the European Council Leaders Summit, noting that the EU continues to overlook the fact that the Republic of Cyprus is the main obstacle to a resolution by granting it EU membership, thereby disregarding international agreements and its own membership criteria.

The statement accused the EU of trying to hold Turkey-EU relations hostage to the Cyprus issue and criticized its persistence in exhausted solution proposals. It reiterated that it's time for a two-state solution in Cyprus, as decades of failed attempts have proven the ineffectiveness of previous models.

Highlighting the EU's biased approach favoring the Republic of Cyprus and its interference in the Cyprus issue, the statement emphasized that Turkey cannot accept the EU and its institutions meddling in a manner that isolates the Turkish Cypriot people while providing comfort to the Greek Cypriot side.

The Foreign Ministry urged the EU to redirect its efforts from blaming Turkey to encouraging the Republic of Cyprus to consider the Turkish Cypriots' proposal for a two-state solution based on sovereign equality and equal international status.
