CTP Member of Parliament Armağan Candan, speaking at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, emphasized the need for all parties to do their utmost to restart and conclude negotiations in Cyprus.

Candan attended the General Assembly session of the Socialist Group and also met with the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Özgür Özel.

Addressing the Political Committee where the Cyprus report was discussed, Candan stressed the importance of restarting negotiations in Cyprus and reaching a conclusive outcome this time. He highlighted the appointment of Maria Angela Holguin as the Personal Representative of the UN Secretary-General to accelerate efforts to find common ground, coinciding with the rapprochement between Turkey and Greece. Candan also mentioned the positive messages towards Turkey from the European Union summit and a strong call regarding the Cyprus issue.

During his time in Strasbourg, Armağan Candan met with Özgür Özel to discuss developments in Cyprus, the situation of Turkish Cypriots denied entry to Turkey, and the relationship between Turkey and Northern Cyprus, conveying the views of the CTP on these matters.

The statement also mentioned Özgür Özel's participation in the meeting of the Socialist/Democrat/Green Group, where he delivered a speech addressing the Cyprus issue. Additionally, it noted that the recommendation for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe was approved during the AKPA session, with the final decision on Kosovo's membership to be made by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
