Stating that the requirements of diplomacy do not include behaving in such a manner, regardless of political views or stance, Mine Atlı emphasized that responsible community leadership entails participating in discussions.

Mine Atlı said, "Feeling a sense of responsibility means trying to build upon the achievements your community has gained in Berlin, continuing from there, and striving for more. You don't have the luxury of saying 'I'm sulking, I'm not playing' like a child."

Reminding that politicians come and go, but decisions taken continue to affect an entire society long after them, Mine Atlı stressed that the decades-long struggle of the Turkish Cypriot community cannot be disregarded in this way by anyone.

Mine Atlı said, "You cannot eliminate the groundwork on which future community leaders can take steps in the interest of the community. Because the Turkish Cypriot community has never given up its true will, which is a federation based on bi-zonality, bi-communality, and political equality. There is little time left for the reflection of the true will at the ballot box."
