Initially arrested and sent to prison for two months as part of the probe into "fake diplomas" at the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTU), Serdal Gündüz, a minor partner in the school and also its General Secretary, appeared before the court again seeking bail.

As the detention period expired, Serdal Gündüz was brought back to court, where the decision was made to extend his imprisonment for another three months as a remand prisoner.

During the hearing, the facts were presented by Inspector Deputy Namık Kemal Baz.

The police stated that the suspect was accused of "Forgery of Official Documents", "Circulation of Forged Official Documents", and "Incitement to Forgery". The police further alleged that the suspect had instigated school employees to enter grades for 18 individuals in the system, issuing diplomas for undergraduate, graduate, master's, and doctoral degrees.

It was revealed that the diplomas of these 18 individuals were submitted to the Ministry of Education, and 8 of them were utilized to gain benefits such as early promotions, salary increases, and other advantages, thereby profiting from the crime.

Judge Gülay Süleymanoğlu Uğur emphasized the suspicion of the suspect's intention to flee the country and ordered his imprisonment for three months under any circumstances.
