Bakkaloğlu faces charges of "Incitement to Forge Official Documents", "Circulation of Fake Official Documents", and "Acquiring Registration through False Conduct".

During the court session, the police presented findings from their investigation, stating that the suspect was identified through a probe into the university's system as part of the financial and academic investigation launched at KSTU. According to the police, Bakkaloğlu was registered in the Oral, Dental, and Maxillofacial Surgery doctoral program on February 22, 2021.

It was revealed that the suspect was falsely registered on September 6, 2019, to make it appear as if they had completed the 8-semester doctoral program, which normally spans 4 years and requires 23 courses. Police further alleged that between 2019 and 2023, fake course grades were entered into the system twice, and the suspect was falsely shown to have completed the 4-year program and graduated on November 10, 2023.

Additionally, it was discovered that the suspect had presented the obtained doctoral diploma to the Ministry of Health and the Medical Association in 2023. The police noted that the suspect, who was arrested two days ago as part of the investigation, had surrendered the allegedly fake diploma to the authorities.

Following the assessment of the evidence, Judge Zehra Yalkut Bilgeç ordered the suspect to be released pending trial on the conditions of posting a cash bond of 100,000 TL, two Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus citizens signing a surety bond of 700,000 TL, and reporting to the police once a week.
