Res-Bir Supports Carcass Meat Imports Over Farmers' Protests

Despite misconceptions, Res-Bir President visited the Prime Minister's office to contribute to a dialogue-based resolution, but their position remains in favor of importing carcass meat.

Call for Transparency and Collaboration

Res-Bir has urged all parties and the government to reveal the actual number of live animals in the country and to consider the issue from the public’s perspective. “Let's find a solution to this problem together. We are all in the same boat,” the association stated.

Highlighting the significant increase in meat prices and the decrease in the number of live animals since 2020, Res-Bir advocates for the import of meat in the short term, as long as it does not harm the livestock producers.

No Institutional Support for the Protest

In a written statement, Res-Bir clarified their position:

“Recently, while the Livestock Producers’ Association's protest was ongoing, our President acted responsibly by attempting to facilitate dialogue, especially between butchers and livestock producers, and visited the protest site for this purpose. However, this visit was misunderstood or presented as support for the protest. To clarify our stance, we explicitly state that as an association, we are not part of the ongoing protest by the Livestock Producers and Breeders Association. We do not offer institutional support for the protest. We advocate for a resolution through collective dialogue and data analysis to ensure that our community and members can access meat under hygienic conditions and at reasonable prices. In the short term, we support carcass meat imports with the goal of increasing the number of live animals in the medium term and ensuring that this does not harm livestock producers.”

Res-Bir’s statement emphasizes the need for collaborative efforts to resolve the issue, ensuring the interests of both the public and the livestock industry are considered.
