A significant fraud case involving customs and the healthcare sector during 2022-2023 has been uncovered through an ongoing investigation. Ediz Kanatlı, President of the Customs Workers' Union (Güç-Sen), stated that invoices and products arriving at customs are first inspected by the Department of Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy. Following allegations by Serdinç Maypa regarding fraudulent activities in customs, significant developments have occurred in the police investigation. It was discovered that Alper Şener Deniz and Adnan Altındağ imported medical products from Turkey for 2,371,000 TL and cleared them through customs with fake invoices for 153,800 TL. They were recently arrested but released on bail.

Ediz Kanatlı, President of the Customs Workers' Union (Güç-Sen), shared insights into the security lapses in customs. He explained that invoices and products arriving at customs are initially inspected and approved by the Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy Department. According to Kanatlı, products and invoices without the Department's approval are not accepted by customs. He refrained from providing further details, citing the ongoing investigations.

ÖZLEM KESKİNOĞLU REFRAINED FROM MAKING A STATEMENT

Özlem Keskinoğlu, Director of the Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy Department, has also refrained from making any statements to Kıbrıs Postası.

WHAT HAPPENED?

As part of the investigation initiated by the police on March 29, 2024, it was found that Adnan Altındağ, the operator of Zerberg Healthcare Trd. Ltd., declared that he purchased medical products worth 3,371,000 TL at customs for 353,000 TL with 14 fake invoices issued on behalf of Azin Danışmanlık Mimarlık Medical Tic. Şti. from Turkey. Altındağ was found to have sold the drugs in the domestic market at prices he purchased from Turkey to the Ministry of Health and companies. During the investigation into Altındağ, Alper Şener Deniz, the operator of Kalden Ticaret Ltd., which was found to be associated with the issue, was also arrested. It was revealed that Deniz declared that he purchased medical products worth 270,000 TL from Turkey for 15,000 TL at customs with 2 fake invoices issued on behalf of Azin Danışmanlık Mimarlık Medical.

Both suspects were released on bail and bond on May 17, 2024, upon their appearance in court.
