TAM Party Calls for Early Elections
TAM Party’s Famagusta Representative Hasan Bilgehan has called for early elections, describing the move as the last chance to reverse the country’s worsening situation. Emphasizing the need for a transparent and accountable system to revive production, Bilgehan said, “This is about the future of our children.”
Speaking on Kuzey Kıbrıs Web TV with Melis Günel, Bilgehan said that TAM Party aims to bring transparency, productivity, and meritocracy to the country, adding that they are working to encourage young people to return home. “This is about the future of our children,” he repeated, “and we will take every necessary step to correct the country’s decline.”
Bilgehan argued that the current government “will not last until 2027” and must listen to the people. “If they are avoiding early elections or refusing to see the message the people delivered at the ballot box, then their only concern is holding onto their seats. This is a grave insensitivity to the people,” he said.
Stressing that the state must act together with its citizens, Bilgehan remarked, “You cannot govern a state without including your people. That is not governance.”
He explained that TAM Party’s approach is rooted in direct citizen participation, saying, “Our organizational model includes neighborhood councils. Representatives from each neighborhood convey local issues to regional delegates, ensuring that those directly affected are part of the solution process.”
Bilgehan said the party’s key mission is to rebuild the country’s production capacity, which he described as only possible through a transparent, accountable, and sustainable system.
“With the current mentality, this is very difficult,” he said. “We will work to ensure that ministers who refuse accountability and respond to criticism by saying ‘then take it to court’ never return to office. This is about saving our children’s future and our country from this mindset. It’s time to reset the system.”
