KTAMS: Hunger Threshold for a Family of Four Reaches 34,887 TL

According to the report prepared by KTAMS, based on the healthy nutrition pattern provided by the Ministry of Health’s Department of Inpatient Treatment Institutions and average prices from the Statistics Department, a family of four requires 34,887 TL per month to meet basic nutritional needs.

The report detailed the mandatory daily and monthly food expenditures for healthy nutrition as follows:

• Adult woman: 300.94 TL per day / 9,028.20 TL per month

• Adult man: 314.05 TL per day / 9,421.50 TL per month

• Child aged 15–19: 330.80 TL per day / 9,924 TL per month

• Child aged 4–6: 217.12 TL per day / 6,513.60 TL per month

KTAMS underlined that 34,887 TL is the minimum amount required for a family of four to maintain a healthy, balanced, and adequate diet.

The union also cited data from the Statistics Department showing that inflation for October 2025 stood at 1.09 percent, while the cost-of-living increase for the July–October period was 16.01 percent.

KTAMS reiterated its criticism that the “2015=100 Base Year Consumer Price Index” used by the Statistics Department is outdated and fails to reflect the true extent of price increases faced by the public.
