Annual Inflation In Northern Cyprus Announced At 39.45%
According to data released by the Statistics Office, the cost of living rose by 21.66% in the second half of 2025, while monthly inflation in December increased by 3.39%. Annual inflation was recorded at 39.45%.
Based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the cost of living rose by 3.39% in December compared with the previous month. As of December 2025, the annual increase in the cost of living stood at 39.45%.
Among the main expenditure groups, the highest price increase in December was recorded in Restaurants and Hotels, which rose by 16.69%. This was followed by Clothing and Footwear at 5.91%, Communication at 4.74%, Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 4.00%, and Recreation and Culture at 3.85%. Other increases were recorded in Health at 3.50%, Transport at 2.12%, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 1.07%, and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 0.92%. Furniture, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance rose by 0.24%, Education by 0.22%, and Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco by 0.03%.
Of the 508 items included in the index, average prices increased for the majority, while price decreases were observed in 95 items. The products recording the highest price increases included school transport fees at 50%, medicines related to skin and dermatological conditions at 44.55%, and cucumbers at 39.37%. The largest price decreases were recorded in cauliflower at 49.67%, garlic at 41.34%, and aubergines at 35.54%.
