AKEL: US Intervention In Venezuela Poses A Threat To International Law
AKEL has described the United States’ intervention in Venezuela as a threat to international law, arguing that both the intervention itself and the alleged abduction of the elected president’s family constitute a clear interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign country.
According to Haravgi newspaper, AKEL said in a statement issued yesterday that such actions amount to open and unacceptable meddling in Venezuela’s domestic affairs.
The party maintained that the justifications put forward by US President Donald Trump for intervening in Venezuela were not convincing. AKEL argued that Washington’s real objective was to bring the country under its control and benefit from its oil resources.
