Former RoC President George Vassiliou Hospitalised in Serious Condition
Former Republic of Cyprus President of the Republic George Vassiliou has been admitted to Nicosia General Hospital, with officials confirming on Thursday that his health condition is considered serious.
The news confirmed by Charalambos Charilaou, the spokesperson for the State Health Services Organisation (SHSO).
Speaking to the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation’s (CyBC) “Third” radio programme, Charilaou verified that the former statesman is currently receiving treatment at the Republic’s primary public hospital.
Vassiliou, 94, who served as the President of the Republic of Cyprus from 1988 to 1993, was transferred to the hospital on Tuesday.
The former president’s five-year term was notable for its focus on economic restructuring and a proactive approach to the Cyprus problem.
