Weekly Fire Service Report: 10 Fires And 29 Special Service Incidents
Ten fires and 29 special service incidents were recorded across the country last week, according to the Fire Service Department’s weekly report covering January 5–11. The report said the fires caused an estimated TL 550,500 in damage.
Nicosia recorded the highest number of fires, with five incidents. Two fires occurred in Caglayan, while Famagusta, Kyrenia and Karavostasi each reported one fire.
The causes of the fires were identified as follows: five incidents resulted from electrical short circuits, two from overheated fireplace and chimney residues, one from heating-related causes, one from a gas leak, and one caused deliberately by an individual or individuals.
Special service incidents included preventive measures against fire, rescuing a cat trapped on a utility pole, freeing people stuck in elevators, providing fire safety training, ensuring road safety, rescuing individuals trapped in traffic accidents, and transporting deceased persons to hospital for forensic examination.
