In a statement shared on social media, Birinci said he has been contacted frequently in recent days following developments regarding citizenship applications and noted that some individuals are trying to exploit the process for personal gain.

He reported that certain people are demanding between 1,000 and 1,600 euros in return for allegedly speeding up application procedures, stressing that these individuals have no official authority or special connections.

Birinci stated that, at best, such individuals would merely pass part of the money on to lawyers to attempt to process applications. He underlined that applicants who fall under the 2007 criteria or those who already have a sibling holding citizenship can submit their applications individually and free of charge through a simple petition.

He also emphasized that there is no deadline for citizenship applications and warned citizens not to be rushed or manipulated. “We should not allow anyone to treat us as fools and exploit this process,” Birinci said, adding that delays caused by heavy demand have created opportunities for fraudsters.

Birinci called on citizens to use only official channels and not to trust individuals or groups requesting money in exchange for assistance with citizenship applications.
