More Than 13kg Of TNT ‘Goes Missing’ From GC National Guard Firing Range
Around 13.6 kilograms of TNT have gone missing from a GC National Guard firing range near the Limassol district village of Kalo Chorio, according to reports on Friday.
Newspaper Phileleftheros reported that National Guard chief Emmanuel Theodorou has travelled to the firing range, that an investigation into the matter has been launched, and that the police are “aware of the incident”.
It also reported that “two main possibilities” are currently being examined: either that the material has “actually disappeared”, or that it was used during an exercise without being recorded as the relevant protocols stipulate.
Additionally, it reported that an exercise which was due to take place at the firing range on Friday has been postponed.
