Yılmaz received Kos and her delegation at the Presidential Complex in Ankara. The meeting was also attended by Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay and Deputy Trade Minister Mustafa Tuzcu.

In a statement shared on his social media account, Yılmaz said the talks focused on the strategic nature of Turkey–EU relations, the importance of a credible and fair enlargement policy, and the need for tangible progress in bilateral ties.

“Concrete steps to be taken on the EU accession process, the updating of the Customs Union, visa liberalization and the reactivation of high-level dialogue mechanisms are of vital importance for Turkey–EU relations, which cannot be confined to narrow headings,” Yılmaz said.

He added: “Based on mutual interests and a shared sense of responsibility, we believe that a strong Turkey–EU perspective grounded in equality, merit and inclusiveness is possible. I thank Commissioner Kos and her delegation for their constructive dialogue and cooperation.”
