Ataoğlu: Our Aim Is to Enhance the Brand Value of TRNC Tourism

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu said that their goal is to enhance the brand value of tourism in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Ataoğlu made the remarks during his speech at the EMITT Tourism Fair held in Istanbul.

According to a statement from the Ministry, Ataoğlu described EMITT as an important platform where countries present their tourism visions, noting that the TRNC is a strong tourism destination located in the heart of the Mediterranean, with its history, culture, natural beauty and hospitable people.

“Our main goal is to spread tourism across 12 months and create a sustainable structure”

Ataoğlu emphasized that TRNC tourism is not limited to sea, sand and sun, adding that product diversity is increasing in many fields such as culture, nature, faith, health, sports, congress, youth and gastronomy tourism. He said their main objective is to extend tourism throughout the year and to establish a sustainable structure.

Referring to the “Island Cyprus” promotional campaign, Ataoğlu said the campaign has attracted strong interest across Turkey and received positive feedback. He noted that the campaign will be launched in major European markets, particularly the United Kingdom, in the coming period, stressing that their aim is to raise the brand value of the TRNC and make the country more visible internationally.

Ataoğlu said investments to strengthen tourism infrastructure are continuing, including new hotel projects, renovation of existing facilities, digital transformation efforts and training programs aimed at improving service quality. He added that they have adopted an environmentally sensitive tourism approach that protects natural resources.

In his speech, Ataoğlu also highlighted the importance of cooperation with Turkey in the field of tourism, stating that efforts are ongoing to improve transportation, increase joint promotional activities and strengthen intersectoral cooperation. He underlined that the Turkish market has strategic importance for TRNC tourism.

“Promotional activities in target markets will be increased”

Ataoğlu said they are making intensive efforts to expand into different markets and that promotional activities will be increased in target markets, particularly in Europe and the Middle East.

Thanking those who contributed to the organization of the EMITT Fair, Ataoğlu expressed his hope that the event would pave the way for new cooperation and strong partnerships, and invited everyone to discover the TRNC more closely.
