Erhürman to Meet Guterres on February 11: We Will Share Our Will for a Solution and Our Methodology
President Tufan Erhürman will travel to New York to meet with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday, February 11, to discuss the Cyprus issue, the will for a solution and the methodology to be followed to ensure the success of the process.
According to a statement by President Erhürman, the meeting will provide an opportunity to exchange views directly with the UN Secretary-General on recent developments regarding the Cyprus problem.
Erhürman said he will convey the Turkish Cypriot people’s commitment to a settlement, their views on what is required to create a climate conducive to a solution, and their proposals on the methodology needed for the process to reach a successful conclusion.
“We will share with the Secretary-General our people’s will for a solution, our thoughts on what must be done to create a solution-oriented atmosphere, and our views on the methodology that should be adopted so that this process can succeed,” Erhürman stated.
He added that progress would be pursued through diplomacy and dialogue rather than through manipulative media tactics or mutual accusations.
“We will move forward with patience, composure, determination and seriousness, within the framework of our people’s will for a solution,” Erhürman said.
