Denktaş: Banknotes Are Increasing, But Wallets Are Not Filling

Chairman of the TAM Party Serdar Denktaş said that artificial agendas are being debated in parliament while the public’s real problem is the rising cost of living, stating, “The number of banknotes in our pockets is increasing, but our wallets are not filling.”

Denktaş: Banknotes Are Increasing, But Wallets Are Not Filling

Speaking as a guest on Kanal T’s live programme hosted by Damla Dabis, Denktaş criticised the focus of both parliament and the media, arguing that the main concern of citizens is the high cost of living. He stressed that although incomes appear to be rising, purchasing power continues to decline.

Denktaş said that issues such as diploma scandals and irregularities should be addressed by the courts, adding that parliament has drifted away from the people’s real concerns.

“Parliament debates diplomas and corruption, but the public’s real agenda is the cost of living, the problems in education and healthcare, and internal unrest. None of these are being discussed. When you try to raise these issues, you are attacked. Artificial agendas suit certain interests. Members of parliament must return to the people’s real priorities,” he said.

Emphasising that it is difficult to understand how the country has become so expensive, Denktaş noted:

“Banknotes in our pockets are increasing, but wallets are not filling. If wallets are not filling, we must talk about the formulas behind this. What needs to be done to make life cheaper? How can taxes and fees be reduced? What kind of inspections are required? How can we restore the flow from the South to the North? These are the issues we should be focusing on. Instead, both parliament and the media are consumed by a different agenda.”

“Our Priority Is Concrete Steps”

Stressing that the TAM Party is working on concrete measures, Denktaş said that both the problems of the country and their solutions are well known, but the paths to those solutions are not being discussed.

“When we go before the public, we will present concrete steps and explain what we will do and how we will do it. The problems are clear and the remedies are known. We show how to reach those remedies. We do not simply say ‘this should be done’ and walk away. We put forward practical steps,” he said.

Denktaş also underlined that the TAM Party represents all segments of society and excludes no one. He noted that the country has now become multicultural and that citizens of foreign origin are represented within the party’s decision-making bodies.

“In our 120-member party council, there are representatives from citizens of foreign origin. We have young, well-educated people, women with equal representation, and individuals who feel disadvantaged. We have become a multicultural society, and these people must also be represented. If they are ignored, discrimination will emerge over time. We must prevent this in order to achieve social consensus,” he said.

Denktaş added that a dynamic and new team has emerged within the TAM Party, and that he guides them by sharing his experience, explaining the obstacles they may face and how they can overcome them while pursuing their goals.
