In a written statement regarding the upcoming meeting between the President and the UN Secretary-General, Dana said that some remarks by the spokesperson of the Greek Cypriot leadership were inconsistent with reality.

The full statement by Presidential Undersecretary Dana reads as follows:

“Some of the statements made by the spokesperson of the Greek Cypriot leadership regarding the meeting our President will hold with the UN Secretary-General on 11 February 2026 do not accurately reflect the facts.

As is known, shortly after taking office, our President sent a letter in response to the congratulatory message conveyed by the UN Secretary-General, stating, among other matters, that he would request an appointment in the near future.

Due to the intense agenda concerning the Cyprus issue, which has been closely followed by the public, this request was formally made on 2 February 2026. The Secretary-General responded promptly, and it was agreed that the meeting would take place on 11 February.

At this meeting, our President will share his views and expectations with the Secretary-General within the framework that he made public yesterday.”
