Erhürman Departs For New York
President Tufan Erhürman left the country at 09.50 on Tuesday to travel to New York for a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
The meeting with the UN Secretary-General is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 12.15 New York time (19.15 TRNC time). During the talks, the Cyprus issue as well as current and regional developments will be discussed.
President Erhürman is accompanied on his visit by Presidential Undersecretary Mehmet Dânâ, Chief of Staff Mustafa Ergüven, Adviser for Diplomacy and Foreign Relations İpek Borman, and Press Officer Tünay Mertekçi.
Following his contacts in New York, President Erhürman is expected to return to the island on Thursday, 12 February, at 20.30. He will hold a press conference upon his arrival at Ercan Airport.
President Erhürman was seen off at Ercan Airport by Speaker of Parliament Ziya Öztürkler, Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz, and other officials.
