Advertising Era Begins On ChatGPT
OpenAI has announced that advertising will be introduced to ChatGPT, which has millions of users worldwide. In a statement posted on X last month, the company said that ads will not appear in the Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise subscription plans and that conversations held on ChatGPT will remain hidden from advertisers.
The artificial intelligence company is planning to begin testing advertisements on its ChatGPT chatbot. OpenAI previously announced that clearly labelled ads would be displayed in a separate section beneath conversations with the AI.
The company said it expects advertising to account for less than half of its total revenue in the long term.
Will Conversations With ChatGPT Be Kept Private From Advertisers?
OpenAI will show advertisements to logged-in users who use the free version of the app or subscribe to the lower-cost Go plan. The company stated that conversations with ChatGPT will be kept private from advertisers, although ads will still be optimised to be as useful and relevant as possible for users.
According to OpenAI, advertisers will have no influence over ChatGPT’s responses.
