Parliament Session Ends After 19 Hours Following Procedural Dispute
The General Assembly session, which lasted nearly 19 hours, was adjourned late last night. It was announced that parliament will not convene today.
Tensions rose in the chamber when CTP MP Erkut Sahali took the floor despite not being scheduled to speak, triggering a debate over parliamentary rules of procedure. Sahali acknowledged that his action violated the rules, stating, “I know this is against the rules of procedure, but I still took the floor,” before hanging a black flag on the rostrum.
Following the incident, Deputy Speaker Fazilet Ozdenefe closed the session.
