Pistol, Magazine and 29 Live Rounds Found Hidden Under Bushes
A pistol, a magazine and 29 live rounds of ammunition were seized during the “Dark Target Operation” carried out by the Famagusta Police Directorate between Turkmenkoy and Akdogan. A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the operation was conducted on February 22, 2026, at around 11:30 p.m. in a rural area between Turkmenkoy and Akdogan. Police teams discovered a 9mm pistol hidden under bushes, along with its magazine and a total of 29 live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect, identified as E.S. (24), had arrived at the scene in a vehicle to collect the weapon and ammunition. Upon noticing the police presence, he fled the area. Following further investigation, the suspect was identified and taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle used by the suspect led to the discovery of a quantity of substance believed to be drugs. The suspected narcotics, along with the pistol and ammunition, were seized as evidence.
The investigation is ongoing.
