Fiber Optic Protocol Passed With 27 Votes
The approval bill concerning the Fiber Optic Protocol was adopted by a majority vote in the General Assembly of the Republic’s Assembly, passing with 27 votes in favor and 20 against.
The General Assembly convened yesterday to debate the draft law on the approval of the “Cooperation Protocol between the Government of Turkey and the Government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus regarding the development of fiber optic infrastructure in the TRNC and the delivery of services provided via fiber optic cables to households and businesses.”
The protocol, which has sparked intense debate in parliament and street protests over the past week, was adopted by 27 votes in favor and 20 against, passing by a majority.
