Ustel Meets Erdoğan in Ankara

Ustel concluded his official visit to Ankara after separate meetings with Erdoğan and Yılmaz.

During his meeting with President Erdoğan, the two sides reviewed strategic cooperation between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Turkey, as well as what was described as the unbreakable bond of brotherhood between the two states. Talks also covered the TRNC’s future-oriented vision projects, alongside joint steps to be taken within the framework of political stability, infrastructure investments and development goals.

In his meeting with Vice President Yılmaz, the fiber optic infrastructure agreement and related supplementary protocols were examined in detail. The two leaders also held extensive consultations on the Economic and Financial Cooperation Protocol planned to be signed in the coming period.

Speaking after the meetings, Ustel said both discussions had taken place in a sincere and constructive atmosphere based on mutual trust. He stressed that relations between Turkey and the TRNC go far beyond a purely financial framework and are of vital importance for the Turkish Cypriot people.

“This relationship is founded on mutual love, respect and a shared sense of history. No attempt to weaken these strong ties will succeed,” Ustel said.

Ustel added that cooperation between the two countries would continue to expand in all areas, from security and infrastructure to the economy and digital transformation, noting: “Side by side with the Motherland Turkey, we are determined to carry the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus into a stronger future.”

Meanwhile, a statement shared on the Turkish Presidency’s official X account said: “President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel at the Presidential Complex.”
