Southern Cyprus Airspace Briefly Closed Over Threats; Northern Cyprus Flights Unaffected
Southern Cyprus temporarily closed the “Nicosia FIR corridor” to air traffic following threats targeting British bases on the island. According to Erhan Arıklı, speaking to Kıbrıs Postası, flights and airports in Northern Cyprus continued to operate normally.
Reports from Cyprus Times indicate that after the new alert, aircraft were prohibited from passing through the Nicosia FIR corridor until the threat in the airspace subsided. Details regarding the exact start and end times of the closure were not disclosed.
Minister Arıklı confirmed that there were no disruptions in Northern Cyprus and emphasized that all airports and flights were functioning as usual.
