Turkish MoD: Iranian Missile Targeting Turkish Airspace Neutralized by NATO Defenses
The Ministry of National Defense of Turkey stated that ballistic ammunition fired from Iran and detected heading toward Turkish airspace was neutralized by NATO air and missile defense assets stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In a written statement, the ministry said the missile, which passed through Iraqi and Syrian airspace before approaching Turkey, was engaged and destroyed in a timely manner by NATO forces.
“No Casualties or Injuries”
The fragment that landed in Dörtyol, Hatay province, was identified as part of the defensive missile used to intercept the threat. No casualties or injuries occurred in the incident.
The ministry emphasized that Turkey’s determination and capacity to ensure the safety of its territory and citizens remain at the highest level. While advocating for regional stability and peace, Turkey is fully capable of protecting its land and citizens against any threat, regardless of source.
“All measures to defend our territory and airspace will be taken decisively and without hesitation. We remind that our right to respond to any hostile act against our country is reserved,” the statement said.
Turkey also called on all parties to refrain from actions that could further escalate conflicts in the region and confirmed that it will continue to cooperate with NATO and other allies.
