In a statement, the ministry outlined the UK’s ongoing operations in the Middle East, noting that F-35B and Typhoon jets conducted overnight flights to protect British interests and allied forces in the region.

The statement confirmed that the Shahid-type drone targeting RAF Akrotiri on the night of 2 March did not take off from Iran. The UK has reinforced defensive systems at its own bases and allied facilities in the area over the past 24 hours, and Wildcat helicopters equipped with anti-drone capabilities are expected to arrive in Cyprus in the coming days.

RAF Akrotiri had been targeted by a drone on 2 March, but the ministry reported that the drone which struck the runway caused no casualties, injuries, or significant damage, while two other incoming drones were successfully intercepted.
